The event kicked off at 2pm, and saw a number of talented poets, dancers and singers taking to the stage. The audience was entertained by performers like Thandanani Dance group, hip-hop outfit Kasi Fusion, The Orthodox, Tholakele and Mazila Nkatha, a poet. The performers put up spirited performances and like Nkomo, they preached the gospel of peace and unity. The Orthodox performed a song Vote In Peace, which encouraged the public to go and vote in peace in the forthcoming harmonised elections. Hip-hop outfit Kasi Fusion were not to be outdone, as they also performed a song titled We Are One People, which preaches unity and togetherness, reminding the public that we are all Zimbabweans and should unite and fight for one cause. Mazila Nkatha also thrilled the audience with his works and words of wisdom, peace and tranquility. Kasi Fusion seemed to be the crowd’s favourite, as revellers joined them in dance and song. One of the event organisers Mlamuli Moyo expressed joy describing the show as a success. “We are very happy that people managed to come here to join us commemorating the life of a hero and it is a good thing to see young people taking part in such things,” he said. “This show is the beginning of some family shows that will be staged in the future and we are planning to host another one next month.”
