Two riot vehicles, imported from Israel, made rounds in Masvingo City centre along Robert Mugabe Way and into one of the busiest roads in town, leaving many questioning whether there were some protests in the city.

Last week, riot police in full combat gear and with canisters were also seen trooping from Masvingo Central Police Station into cars ostensibly heading for refresher drills.

Sources said the police were preparing for the polls and assessing whether their machinery had not gathered dust.
