ZIFA Southern Region Division One League pacesetters Bulawayo Chiefs and Black Boots lock horns in the semi-final of the maiden Machache Meats tournament after winning their quarter-finals ties in Hwange on Saturday.

The Rahman Gumbo coached Chiefs beat ZPC Hwange 2-1 in the coal mining town to cruise to the semis with goals from Trevor Nkomo and Proud Zireni.

They now meet Black Boots, the first team to beat them in the league, in the semi finals to be played on July 27. The police outfit dismissed Quelaton 3-1 at White City Stadium on Saturday to pull through to the semi-finals while troubled Hwange side Mpumalanga got the better of Tsholotsho to book a berth in the semi-final.

Mpumalanga await the winner of Hwange Juniors and Bulawayo Jumbos at the Colliery tomorrow. The Hwange Juniors and Bulawayo Jumbos quarter-final match which was supposed to be played on Saturday, was postponed as the army side had other commitments.

Chiefs beat Zimbabwe Saints 2-0 in the first round in Plumtree last week, while Black Boots edged Ajax Hotspurs 2-1 in Fairbridge. Mpumalanga beat Technosphere 3-2 in the first round while Tsholotsho had beaten Ntabazinduna Prison 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out. Winners of the inaugural Machache Meats Tournament will walk away with $3 000 while the runners-up will take $1 800.

Winners of the third and fourth-place play-offs will pocket $1 250 while the losers will get $850.
