The two teams missed  chances as  How Mine could have been  gone a goal up in the 15th minute when Warren Dube got the better of Warriors defender Felix Chindungwe, but  his cross was skied by Sizalobuhle Dube.

Chicken Inn got their solitary goal nine minutes later when Tendai Ndoro capitalised on How Mine’s relapse  and tapped the ball home after the gold miners’ goalkeeper Notice Dube spilled a  Brian Mbiriri  free-kick.

The first half  had both teams fluffing chances that came their way. Timothy January grabbed the crucial equaliser  heading past  Chicken Inn goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni  from an Eddy Nkulungo cross  in the 70th minute.

Danny Phiri turned villain for Chicken Inn after he handled inside  the box  resulting in referee Hardley Ndazi pointing to the spot in the 81st minute.

Mernard Mupera  converted the penalty sending  Nyoni the wrong way. Chicken Inn had two goals disallowed for offside. How Mine interim coach Philani  “Beefy”  Ncube was ecstatic after beating his former paymasters.

“We conceded a silly goal. We managed to regroup in the second  half and we  put our act together. We capitalised on their weaknesses because I know that Guide Goddard and Felix Chindungwe are not good in dealing with crosses and Njabulo Nyoni does not come out of his  goal line.

Chicken Inn coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu  was disappointed  after the team  failed to hold on to their lead. “Derbies are very tough. The long lay-off contributed   to the result because we looked tired in the second half. It is back to the drawing board for us. I am not the right person to talk about  the referee, but maybe we should revisit the football rules,” he said.
