The event at St Gabriel’s Centre was attended by scores of Anglican worshippers and dubbed, “Together on a mission: Embracing inclusivity and diversity to make a difference”.

Anglican diocese of Matabeleland bishop Cleophas Lunga, who became the seventh bishop of the diocese in 2009, said the celebrations would help the church to retrace its steps.

“What we need to do is something that can help people, in terms of health, education and other things to help the community,” he said. “There is need also to educate young people of today that anything outside faith may exist, but for a very limited time.”

Lunga said there was need for church members to evaluate themselves as they prepare for the church’s 70th anniversary in 10 years’ time.

He said the celebrations were meant to appreciate what God had done in the church for the past 60years despite several challenges that the country had been facing during that period.
