Fresh from receiving The Fashion Week’s top gong, Tholakele told Southern Eye she had not reaped much benefits from modelling in her earlier career, but with the latest accolade, the sky was the limit.

The former Zimbabwe’s representative in Face of Africa 2010 said she was now confident she could make a life out of fashion because she was doing it with a passion compared to modelling despite the fact that she was excelling.

“I am happy that I managed to impress and I thought that I would not land the top spot since I was the only one from Bulawayo,” she told Southern Eye.

“I later realised that fashion is an inborn thing with me. I am working hard to nurture and develop my talent to dizzy heights.”

Tholakele also expressed optimism on her new agency.

“Hunnar Management Agency is doing a good job for us. As a model, I am happy about the way they treat us as models. It shows that they are committed to our well-being and we will benefit from them.

“As a model, I am looking forward to learning a lot from them. “I am so excited to be part of history and to be able to inspire every young girl who dreams of taking up their talent and being someone out of it.”

Tholakele was born and bred in Magwegwe high-density suburb.

Despite her humble beginnings, she has grown to become a force to reckon with in the city through her modelling and now her fashion prowess.

She has been working in South Africa since 2009 and only returned home last year. In South Africa she took part in some of Africa’s top fashion shows.
