Nhlanhla Mlandu (30) of Cowdry Park suburb in Bulawayo, pleaded guilty to a criminal insult charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove on Friday.

Mushove convicted and fined him $50 and if he fails to pay he would serve 10 days in jail.

On September 3 at 10:45am, the complainant, Abraham Moyo of Imbizo Barracks, was taking his child to board a bus to Mtshabezi High School at the Renkini Bus Terminus in Bulawayo.

However, when he arrived at the rank the bus had left and he decided to hire a taxi to take the child to school.

Mlandu, touting for passengers for a kombi intending to go to the same school, was incensed that Moyo preferred to hire a taxi.

Mlandu approached Moyo and started insulting him saying: “You are stupid. I do not care who you are. Whether you are a chief police officer or owner of Zimbabwe!”
