Zifa announced last year that they would retire the Warriors’ number 13 jersey which was worn by the late “Adamski” during his illustrious national team career.

Ndlovu died on the way to hospital after being involved in a horrific car crash in December last year together with Nomqhele Tshili, a passenger in the car.His brother Peter Ndlovu who was driving was seriously injured.

Dube yesterday told Southern Eye that they were surprised at what Zifa had done.

“I do not have anything much to say because I called Brian Moyo and he said I should speak to Zifa vice-president Ndumiso Gumede. Gumede referred me to Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze. I have not spoken to Mashingaidze because his phone is going unanswered.

“This shows that Zifa are liars and the world can see because they have gone back on their word. We are hoping to meet as a family to discuss this. I cannot comment any further for now,” he said.

Billiat was named man-of-the-match in the 2-1 victory over South Africa at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg.

Adamski had a rich football-playing career spanning 1992 to 2005.

He left Highlanders to join Swiss club SC Kriens in 1994 before moving to SR Delemont in 1997. He then returned to Highlanders in 2001, winning the league title with Stewart Murisa before moving to South Africa. He played for Moroka Swallows, Dynamos and Free State Stars from 2002 to 2005 before hanging up his boots to take up coaching. He became assistant coach to Philani “Beefy” Ncube at Chicken Inn in 2011 and took over as the boss with three games left.

He led Chicken Inn to a third-place finish last year.

Fans also took to social networks blasting Zifa over the move.
