The provincial league secretary Lethukuthula Nkomo told Southern Eye Sport that all was set for the tournament.

Nkomo said the doubles tournament with total prize money of $300 will be an open competition being organised by Highlanders Darts Club.

“This is an open tournament organised by Highlanders Darts Club and the sponsor is Townsend and Butcher, so everyone who wishes to participate can come,” Nkomo said. Townsend and Butcher tournament will be expecting a good turnout form players playing in the Bulawayo Metropolitan Darts league which is at its peak, having completed 27 games out of the expected.

Winners of Saturday’s tournament will walk away with $80, with the runners-up pocketing $60 and for their efforts, the losing semi- finalists will get $40 each. Nkomo hailed the tournament as good initiative for the game as it would also give league teams the platform to scout for players since the tournament is open to everyone.

“This social tournament is also good for the clubs, especially Highlanders Darts club who are organisers of the tournament. Clubs will have an opportunity to scout for good players not playing in the league,” he said.

The first team to score 180 will be awarded $10, while the first bull close has a $15 incentive. Registration will be $2 per participant and free for the first two women and three men.
