ZNA golf tourney set for Saturday

THE Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Charities Golf Tournament, which had initially been set for August 24, but was later postponed will now be held next Saturday.

THE Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Charities Golf Tournament, which had initially been set for August 24, but was later postponed will now be held next Saturday. Sukoluhle Mthethwa Sports Reporter Tsanga Lodge Convalescent Centre, Widows and Orphans Fund, Army Benovelent Fund, Army Schools Welfare Trust and the Patients Welfare Fund are the five army charities expected to benefit from the golf tournament.

One of the organisers of the event, Major Fabian Chitungo yesterday told Southern Eye the golf tournament will now be held on October 5.

“We are now going to have the tournament on October 5. We had to postpone it due to unforeseen national events which developed. We are now looking forward to the tournament expected to attract over 100 golfers.” he said.

“We are expecting top army echelons which include the ZNA commander lieutanant-general Phillip Valerio Sibanda and his other generals. We are also looking forward to the day because we will also be bringing renowned motivational speaker Eddie Khosa,” he said.

Brigadier generals Howard Matombo, Richman Ncube, Hebert Chingono and Thando Madzvamuse will also be expected to tee off in the tournament together with Colonel Rufus Chigudu as well as Major Chitungo.

Harry Allen public relations manager Moses Mlalazi, Dumisani Ndlovu, Victor Tall will be expected to take to the greens together with sponsors representatives Zenzo Malunga and Jebus Karuru.

In the evening there will be a dinner dance at a local hotel which will cost $75 for a chair with a table for 10 going for $750 while the target for this year’s competition is pegged at $10 000.

The tournament will be played in four-ball, better-ball format.
