The United Kingdom-based rapper told Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday he would first launch the album in the City of Kings before taking it to Harare.

“It has taken me a year working on this album. I was supposed to launch it earlier this year, but I felt that it should be well packaged, ” Rymme Assassin said.

The 26-track double CD album will feature songs in English, Ndebele and Shona as a way to reach to a wider audience, he added. The album includes songs such as Black Hope, Unity, Good Child and Treat Me Like a Lady which is said to be doing well on the UK airwaves.

“Unity is a song which appeals for unity among Zimbabweans from all ethnic backgrounds, especially the three groups Ndebele, Shona and the English, and the song is composed in three languages.

“Another song is Zimbabwe, which is a tribute to my beloved country. It is like a prayer for the country to be restored to its former glory. I was born and raised in Zimbabwe and leaving for the UK has given me a longing for my Zimbabwe — that is what inspired this song,” Rymme Assassin said.

The musician has featured renowned artistes such as Prometheus, Vanessa and Trevor Dongo, among others on some of the songs.

The last time Rymme Assassin visited Zimbabwe was in May where he performed at the Its’ Bigger Than Hip-hop Show at Amakhosi Cultural Centre.

Last year Rymme Assassin scooped the Zimbabwe Music Awards Best Male Artiste of the Year accolade given to Zimbabweans in the Diaspora.

Besides music in the UK, the hip-hop artiste works as the operations manager at Eschol Brooke Security Options.
