ARTS lovers are in for a treat in Gwanda as the Rainbow Arts Festival kicked off yesterday with top local groups set to serenade revellers, among them senior government officials, at the official opening of the festival set to end on Sunday.

Chief Nyangazonke Ndiweni officially opened the festival that is turning out to be a permanent feature in the arts calendar, at Gwanda District Club.

Newly-appointed Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Matabeleland South, Abedinco Ncube, is also expected to grace the occasion.

The main act of the night was the man of the moment Clement Magwaza of the Khokhotsha fame backed by losing finalist of the Chibuku Neshamawari Road to Fame national finals Moto Super Sounds.

Umkhathi Theatre works is expected to ignite the stage with a hard-stomping dance called setapa, sharing the stage with Shining Stars.

Nokuthula Moyo, the festival director, promised arts lovers a fun-filled event.

“The festival will offer various genres of art,” she said.
