The event is slated for October 30 at Stephen Margolis Resort in the capital Harare.

The gathering, according to NACZ, is part of its strategy to deliberate and recommend specific courses of action in the country’s cultural sector.

NACZ communications manager Catharine Mthombeni said the indaba would be attended by artistes, administrators, policy makers and other players in the arts and culture sector drawn from across the country.

Mthombeni said the main objective was to create synergies between arts organisations and various institutions within the arts sector.

“Some of the objectives are to create a forum for dialoguing, networking, learning and contributing to consolidated growth of the culture sector in Zimbabwe as well as strengthening the sector collaboration and participation in national processes in a co-ordinated manner,” she said.

Mthombeni also said the platform would create a strategy on how the culture sector’s input can be put into the frameworks of the country in the constitutional reform process.

“We will also look at constitutional reform process, culture policy, national strategies on culture and issues affecting the arts and culture sector,” she said.

Mthombeni said this year’s edition of the indaba would be significant as the sector was celebrating the creation of a Sport, Arts and Culture ministry which she said was likely to change the face of the sector.

NACZ is partnering with Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust which has been supporting the last three gatherings.

Last year’s indaba was held in Masvingo.
