GWERU — MDC-T vice-president Thokozani Khupe said her party emerged stronger from its electoral defeat to Zanu PF in the July 31 polls and will eventually deliver change to the people of Zimbabwe.

Addressing party supporters at a victory celebrations rally for Mkoba MP Amos Chibaya in Gweru on Sunday, Khupe dismissed pronouncements by some senior Zanu PF officials that the MDC-T was “dead and buried”.

Zanu PF politburo member and Justice minister Emmerson Mnangagwa declared the two MDC formations “dead and buried” last week in Masvingo and urged people to rally behind his party for economic and social transformation.

But Khupe said the MDC-T was now more focused than before to deliver real change to people because the party is not driven by power.

“Zanu PF is a power-driven party while MDC is a value-driven party,” Khupe said.

“The party (Zanu PF) will do anything to steal the people’s vote. They are prepared to fork out large sums of money and pay Nikuv (an Israeli company) to rig the elections. I say to you don’t lose hope. We are going to get that which rightfully belongs to us. Let’s remain united as a party as we go to State House under the leadership of Morgan Tsvangirai,” Khupe added.
