Hwange showed no hospitality for their visitors after they dispatched Shabanie Mine, completing a double over their fellow miners in a Castle Premier Soccer League match at the Colliery Stadium yesterday.

Nation Dube’s side secured the lead in the 37th minute through midfielder-cum-striker Isaac Masame who unleashed a powerful shot outside the box reducing the Zvishavane-based side goalkeeper Victor Twaliki to a mere spectator.

The first half was characterised by an up-tempo performance from both sides who had their agendas speaking on the playing field. The coal miners showed intent to maintain their PSL stay.

Hwange midfielder, Nkosana Siwela created multiple chances that were not converted by his strike force in the fourth and seventh minutes respectively. Overall, both sides displayed excellent tactical football in the first half of the encounter.

Siwela pounced in the 56th minute at Shabanie just after a short-range attempt by the opening scorer Masame.

Towards stoppage Luke Masomere’s side picked up pace as Hwange defended. Hwange goalkeepers’ coach Chengerai Dube was visibly an ecstatic man over the triumph.

“This win has gone a long way in easing the relegation pressure from us and has set the tone for us to collect maximum points against Chicken Inn in the next match,” he said Shabanie coach “Dr” Masomere attributed his loss to injuries to his four key players.
