CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) log leaders Highlanders will have a tricky encounter taking on Black Rhinos in a match at Rimuka Stadium in Kadoma on Sunday.

Sunday’s match is expected to be a thrilling fixture for the Bulawayo giants because Black Rhinos have not lost a match since their move to Rimuka Stadium.

Bosso shot to the top of the log table with 44 points from 24 games after their 4-1 victory over Tripple B at Barbourfields Stadium on Wednesday. Defending champions Dynamos lost 0-2 to FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane on the same day.

Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu yesterday said they were hoping to get a good result.

“Since Black Rhinos moved to Rimuka they have not lost or conceded a goal so that venue seems to be working for them.

“But with the right attitude and determination we have shown in our previous games and of course God’s grace we could get a positive result.

“The league is getting very tough because if you look at the top teams, only a few points separate them and that is the same as the bottom-placed teams,” he said.

Black Rhinos assistant coach Ndega Matsika said they were ready for the match against Bosso.

“The match against resurgent Highlanders is going to be very tough, but we are playing at our home ground. We want to utilise that advantage. We might just surprise Highlanders. It is also good that we have not lost or conceded a goal at Rimuka since we played Tripple B for the first time in Kadoma in the first round of the league.

“Bosso have good players like Masimba Mambare, Mthulisi Maphosa and Bruce Kangwa. They also have our former player Beaven Chikaka. However, we also have youngsters who will want to prove a point,” he said.

Black Rhinos played a goalless draw against Buffaloes at Rimuka on Wednesday.

The army side is fourth from the bottom of the log table with 27 points from 24 games and would want to avoid a defeat as the relegation battle hots up.

In other matches lined up, Chicken Inn entertain Hwange at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Chicken Inn dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with Harare City in their last home match.

They were also booted out of the Mbada Diamonds Cup by Caps United losing 1-2 at Ascot Stadium in Gweru on Sunday before losing by the same scoreline against the Green Machine in a PSL match on Wednesday.

Chicken Inn coach Mandla Mpofu said they would have to get the three points.

“It is a must-win tie for us. Come rain come sunshine we have to be victorious at 5pm on Saturday. Our aim is to finish in the top four, so we cannot do that if we continue to drop points. We have to win against Hwange if we are to reach our target. We are resilient we will bounce back,” Mpofu said.

Hwange coach Nation Dube said: “This is going to be a very tough match because Chicken Inn are under a lot of pressure. They lost the Mbada quarter-final and also lost the league match against Caps United. To us this means we are going to fight, if possible get a draw or a win. The points that we get will come in very handy,” he said.

Luveve Stadium will host what is also expected to be another interesting tie on Sunday.

Title-chasing Harare City will be targeting maximum points to pile pressure on top teams on the log table while How Mine will not want to drop points having lost 0-3 in their last home league match against Black Rhinos.

Shabanie Mine will lock horns with troubled Monomotapa at Maglas Stadium in Zvishavane on the same day.
