LUKE “Vahombe”Masomere yesterday threatened to quit at the end of the season after seeing his team share spoils with struggling Monomotapa in a PSL match played at Maglas Stadium yesterday.

Masomere’s team fell to Chicken Inn in the Mbada Cup and Hwange in a league match before yesterday’s disappointing draw.

“I am leaving Shabanie Mine at the end of the season and I just want the supporters to rally behind me until that time.

“A lot is happening within the club and the poor show was because I had injuries in the team and it’s unfortunate that we did not win,” said Masomere, who did not want to state his reasons for the planned exit.

Masomere won the BancABC Cup with Shabanie and was rewarded with a $12 000 bonus.

Fans are slowly losing confidence in him and yesterday team manager Samson Gondwe threatened to beat him up as he was not happy with the side’s shoddy performance.

Gondwe finances the team and some sponsors in Harare did not show up, probably as a protest over poor results. However only two weeks ago Shabanie beat Caps United 3-1.

Monomotapa were the first to settle when the Shabanie Mine goalkeeper Victor Twaliki fumbled a harmless looking cross from Hilary Mugoniwa and Carlos Messi easily scored in the fourth minute.

That was the only effort worth writing home about in the first-half.

The second half saw midfielder Franskson Bushire’s effort in the 52nd minute saved by goalkeeper Fidias Chifamba following a good cross from captain Blessed Mbavarira.

Shabanie played purposeful football after the introduction of Solomon Ndlovu who enlivened the stadium with his performance.

The Mandava-born star was the architect of the Shabanie Mine equaliser when he waltzed his way past two Monomotapa defenders in the 75th minute before sending a cross to young Talbott Mtombeni who reacted with a firm header that flew past goalkeeper Chifamba.

After the goal Shabanie Mine tried hard to get a winner, but all was in vain as Fungai Chirinda was surprisingly played as right-back by Masomere who had Brighton Tuwaya, Rodney Mware, Boniface Dimanji and Phillimon Mudena on the bench.

The Shabanie midfield lacked an attacker and also the idea of keeping Ndlovu on the bench left the fans with more questions than answers.

“I am happy that we managed to get a point though I felt we could have won.Masomere was an architect when he introduced Ndlovu who then brought stability to Shabanie. We will continue to fight to avoid relegation,” said Conrad Nyambabvu the Monoz assistant coach
