His manager Mlungisi Moyo, also a member of the Chicken Inn executive committee, confirmed the development to Southern Eye Sport yesterday.

“Mahachi flew out of the country yesterday (Monday). He is expected back in the country on Friday and should be here for our next game against FC Platinum on Sunday,” he said.

“This can be a life changing opportunity for him and he should grab it with both hands. Sundowns is a very big team and all he needs is to do well and make the best out of it.

“If he impresses I will advise him accordingly. I think he has done very well this season and I am sure he will be part of the soccer stars again this year. He scored three Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) goals last season and has already scored the same number of goals so far. He has also assisted in some of the Chicken Inn goals,” Moyo said.

Mahachi had a good season last year under the guidance of the late Chicken Inn coach Adam Ndlovu.

The dribbling wizard also played a major role in ensuring Chicken Inn finished on position three in the PSL.

He was named the 2012 rookie of the year and has continued with his good form this season. Moyo said they would be happy if Mahachi got a good deal as he also had a trial stint with another South African team SuperSport United in July.

“I am not at liberty to say much about the SuperSport deal. But what I can say is that they were impressed with him,” he said.

“They did not put pen to paper, but they said they would get back to us in December. Sundowns started following him up and they also said they want to assess him. I am open to any deal that will be suitable for him.”

If Mahachi makes the grade he will join Zimbabwe Internationals Khama Billiat and Cuthbert Malajila as well as former Warriors captain Esrom Nyandoro at the Pretoria-based side.

He will also join former Warriors striker Peter Ndlovu who is team manager of the Patrice Motsepe-owned side. Mahachi is on loan to Chicken Inn from Bantu Rovers.
