THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer league (PSL) in partnership with Mbada Diamonds, the sponsors of the country’s richest 16-team knockout tournament has released the schedule for semi-finals matches to be played this weekend.

The dates and venues of the semi-finals matches pitting Highlanders and Harare City and the second match pitting Caps United and How Mine were made public on October 18 when the draw was conducted, but what was left was to allocate the clubs dates.

From the stakeholders’ meeting held in the capital on Thursday, all parties agreed that Highlanders were going to square off with Harare City at Mandava, Zvishavane, on Saturday while Caps United have been handed a chance to storm into the finals of the richest tournament in front of their fans a they will play How Mine on Sunday at the giant National Sports Stadium.

The chairman of the Mbada Diamonds Cup, who is also the spokesperson of the committee, Tafadzwa Chiremba, confirmed the dates and venues.

“I can confirm the dates venues as well as dates allocations. Highlanders will be playing Harare City on Saturday at Mandava while Caps United hosts How Mine at the National Sports Stadium the following day,” Chiremba said.

According to PSL competitions manger Elisha Mandireva, the committee also put into consideration that Caps United has been playing away from home since the third edition of the tournament started.

“Caps United have been given a chance to play at home for the first time.

“The Green Machine has been playing away from home since the tournament started,” Mandireva said.

Caps United opened the 2013 edition with a date against Motor Action at Sakubva in Mutare winning 7-6 after penalty shoot-out before travelling to Gweru’s Ascot Stadium quarter-final clash against Chicken Inn whom they beat 2-1.

Their opponents How Mine played their opening match at Barbourfields when they edged Black Rhinos 1-0 before coming up with a giant killing act when they knocked DeMbare out at Rufaro Stadium with a 1-0 score line.

Highlanders had a chance of opening the 2013 edition with a home date against Triangle winning 3-2 before travelling to Masvingo’s Mucheke Stadium where they beat Buffaloes 3-0 to storm into the semi-finals of this cup for the first time.
