Chiefs secretary Dumisani Sibanda who previously said that the name was going to be announced on November 9, said the event have been postponed.

“As a club, we have decided to postpone the awards winning ceremony in which we are also going to announce the new name for the club to November 30.

“This is because we want to give our stakeholders enough time to diarise before we have such an event,” Sibanda said.

Some Bulawayo Chiefs stakeholders are in the education ministry and play a pivotal role in driving Chiefs academy and they might be attending a proposed Zanu PF celebration in Mangwe on November 16.

Sibanda said they were still gathering information from stakeholders and the supporters about the new name for the club.

“We are still expecting people to come with their suggestions about the name of the club, whether we should continue as Chiefs or we should change the name. It is all up to the people of Plumtree because the club belongs to them,” he said.

So far names that have been suggested are Amakhosi, Plumtree Chiefs, Chiefs while others are saying they are comfortable with Bulawayo Chiefs.

Sibanda indicated that the name of the club should be announced soon so that the club would register with PSL very early.

“We will make sure we agree on time about the name of the club because we want to register with PSL in time,” he said.
