The four-member group has made the two tracks immediately available for download online.

Speaking to Southern Eye Lifestyle Emmanuel Nkomo, an official of the four-member group popularly known as Rootz, said they had packaged tunes for people to dance to and enjoy.

Nkomo said Sekele is a happy dance tune.

“It’s a jovial tune with a mix of our tribal sound, live drums and contemporary house groove, produced at Djem Records by our producer Khotso” Rootz said.

On Sekele Djembe Monks collaborated with Harare-based Deejay and model Dj Vee.

Still We Rise is an Afro-tribal track with a conscious house groove.

“As a group we have achieved things that no one thought we would.

“We were a headlining act at this year’s Shoko Festival, though we are a long way to go in getting local audiences to appreciate home grown dance music.

“The response we are getting is good and encouraging and especially in Bulawayo, we have performed at many venues and people love our craft,” Rootz added.

The band was formed in 2010 and consists of Emmanuel Nkomo (Rootz), Ndumiso Tshuma (Black Cee), Ngqabutho Ncube (Slimzar Wa Afrika) and Khotso Nare (Torturedrum).

Djembe means an African drum which forms a huge part of their sound and Monks means that the troupe is a conscious movement which thrives on African identity.

The band has an album under their belt, Deep-Love-Drums which was produced in 2012.
