HIGHLANDERS’ goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya has been rewarded for his sterling performance during the Mbada Diamonds Cup semi-final at Mandava Stadium, Zvishavane on Saturday with long-time benefactor retired colonel Tshinga Dube presenting him with a sports bike.

Diya scored an equalising penalty in regulation time to make it 2-2 before saving a penalty by City’s David Kutyauripo and converting a spot-kick to give the Bulawayo giants the winner.

Dube gave Diya the sports bike to help him in his training after helping Bosso beat Harare City 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out.

Club chairman Peter Dube yesterday confirmed that Dube had dropped the sports bike at the team’s offices in the morning for the goalkeeper.

“He (Diya) was given a bike by Dube to enable him make his runs.

Dube dropped the bike at the office this morning and said the boy had played well and it was important to honour players when they did well,” Dube said.

Bosso will play How Mine in the final after the gold miners beat Caps United 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out in Harare after the match had also ended 2-2 in regulation time.
