HIGHLANDERS chairman Peter Dube says the club could have stood on head coach Kelvin Kaindu’s way in his pursuit to obtain a Uefa B Licence.

Dube said although Bosso could have done with all the technical brains in place at this crucial stage of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, Kaindu had been trying to enrol for that course and had been turned down and this time around he was accepted.

Highlanders has this year been without Kaindu for two critical matches, the 1-1 draw against Motor Action and the 0-4 humiliating defeat by Harare City on Sunday, as he has been away in the United Kingdom.

The two matches had a bearing on Highlanders landing the league title which has eluded them since the last one in 2006. “He has previously applied for that course and has been turned down.

“He could have gone there last year in April or May, but he was turned down and was accepted this time around. How do you block him?

“But we have looked at that and we have said as for the league, you lay your foundation at the early stages. We had him last year when we embarrassingly lost our only game 0-3 to Monomotapa.

“You would obviously want all your brains together at this stage and it teaches us a lesson, but when you lose you should lose with dignity,” Dube added.

Bosso last year went for 23 matches unbeaten in the league before losing 0-3 to Monomotapa in Harare when Kaindu was in charge.

That was the only match that Bosso lost. Bosso surrendered the title to Dynamos through an inferior goal difference with both sides tied on 69 points. DeMbare had lost three matches.

This year, Highlanders has lost eight times, seven while Kaindu was in charge.

Dube said Kaindu was expected to be in the country on Saturday depending on his flight itinerary.

Bosso will take on Shabanie Mine on Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium and if Kaindu is not available, his assistant Bekithemba “Super” Ndlovu — who was in charge in the 0-4 mauling by title favourites Harare City, is likely to take charge again.

Highlanders, tied on 51 points with Dynamos and dislodged to the position three, now bank on City with 53 points losing their last match against Caps United on Sunday and DeMbare losing to Black Mambas.

Highlanders could have easily been crowned the 2013 Castle Lager PSL champions on Sunday had they beaten Harare City as Dynamos were held to a 2-2 draw by Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium.
