Mandla Khumalo pleaded not guilty to rape when he appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Merylene Mtshina, but was remanded in custody to November 29.

Allegations against Khumalo are that on the night of November 11, he gained entry into the complaint’s house through a window panel while naked and removed the door of the complainant’s bedroom as it had no hinges.

He then strangled the woman before raping her once.

He escaped through the window, but the woman somehow recognised him and made a report to the police leading to his arrest on November 13.

Khumalo has a pending case of assault.
