BOTSWANA be Mobile Premier Soccer League outfit Mochudi Centre Chiefs officials reportedly fled from a deputy sheriff with bags of money from gate takings from their match against Gaborone United targeted by law-enforcement agents to settle a P100 000 debt owed to former coach Madinda Ndlovu.

According to media reports in that country, the club officials fled with the money on November 9 after Mochudi beat Gaborone United 1-0 at Molepolole after the deputy sheriff acting on Ndlovu’s behalf went to the stadium to execute a High Court order (November 2012) instructing the club to pay Ndlovu P100 000 owed him in winning bonuses.

“The deputy sherriff acting on behalf of former Chiefs coach Madinda Ndlovu showed up at the match to execute action as determined by the High Court judgment that instructed the club to pay their former coach the P100 000 they have owed him over the past two years.

“In failing to pay Ndlovu the money that was promised as bonus for winning the previous league title, the High Court in November last year ordered that Ndlovu could attach the club’s property, gate takings or chairman Ernest Molome’s property.

“According to court documents, Chiefs are cited as first defendant while Molome is second against Ndlovu, the plaintiff. Molome signed a two-year contract with Ndlovu, which effected June 21 two years ago, and scheduled to end on June 31 this year,” according to media in Botswana.

The deputy sheriff is believed to have rushed to Molepolole Police Station to make a report after which the officials pitched up with only P2 500.

Cliff Mogomotsi, the club’s spokesperson and Ndlovu were not reachable yesterday for a comment, but an impeccable source in Botswana confirmed the incident.

Ndlovu now coaches Township Rollers in the Botswana Premier Soccer League.
