The project will also enhance local authorities’ capacity to apply climate change knowledge for strengthened water resilience and security.

“I am pleased that this initiative comes at a time when the city is waiting for the rains and preaching the gospel of saving water to local residents,” said Bulawayo mayor Martin Moyo.

Moyo added that the issue of climate change and drought must be taken seriously and called for people to be educated about it for the betterment of the community.

The Local Government Sustainability Africa is the world’s leading association of cities and local governments dedicated to sustainable development.
