LSU public relations director Zwelithini Dlamini apologised to the 2013 graduands and their guests, contracted service providers and all invited guests for the inconvenience caused and advised that the ceremony would now be held at a date to be announced in due course.

“The reason why the LSU graduation was postponed is that it has to be fitted within other national events which I cannot disclose. It also has to be noted that this graduation ceremony is a national event,” Dlamini said.

He added that all invitation cards remained valid and could still be used on the new date that will be announced.

Although Dlamini could not reveal the reasons for the postponement, it is common knowledge that President Robert Mugabe presides over all graduation ceremonies at State universities as the chancellor of all State universities.

Mugabe is currently out of the country and is only expected later tonight or early tomorrow in time for the special Zanu PF politburo meeting to be held in Harare tomorrow.
