ARMY side Buffaloes secured another flirtation with top-flight football next season after holding FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium, Zvishavane, yesterday to finish the season on 39 points.

The result also saw the Platinum miners secure a top-four finish to the season.

The home side was the first to score in the 48th minute through Ali Sadiki before Steven Sibanda levelled terms in the 52nd minute from the penalty spot.

FC Platinum put their nose in front again in the 61st minute through Daniel Vheremu from the penalty spot, but again the army side came from behind in the 64th minute to force a draw through second-half substitute Jacob Muzokomba.

FC Platinum coach Lloyd Mutasa was not impressed with his team’s performance.

“As a team, I think we should have done better than we did. We struggled in the first half, but came back a bit more organised in the second half. Overall, we didn’t play well,” he said.

An elated Timothy Masachi paid tribute to his players for grinding out a result that saw his team survive the chop.
