HOW MINE denied Tripple B the chance to end their stay in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League on a winning note when they came from behind to draw 2-2 at Dulibadzimu Stadium yesterday.

Tripple B got their goals from Makai Kawashu and Maxwell Mavhuto, while the visitors got theirs from Warren Dube and an own goal from Mavhuto.

The result meant How Mine managed to finish the season in the top half in their maiden season sitting on position eight with 42 points.

They might, however, hope to enter dreamland by winning the prestigious Mbada Diamonds Cup against Bulawayo giants Highlanders at Barbourfields on Saturday.

Philani “Beefy”Ncube fielded a full strength team with one eye In Saturday’s Mbada cup final, giving the event a sense of anti-climax.

“We will use more or less the same team that played here in the Mbada Diamonds Cup final.

“We came here for a win, but it was unfortunate that we conceded two silly goals, though we managed to come back and get a draw,” he said.

However, the relegated Tripple B coach Peter Manoti continued his preparations for life in the unfashionable Division One.

“I am happy that the youngsters are doing very well. In today’s match we continued with our recovery plan — that is building a formidable team for next season,” Manoti said.

Kawashu gave the hosts the lead after 24 minutes when he got to the end of a Mavhuto pass.

Soccer star of the year finalist Menard Mupera’s well taken free-kick was directed into the net for the visitors’ equaliser when it hit the back of Mavhuto.

A minute later Mavhuto made amends for his blunder restoring the lead for the home team when he finished off a counter attack initiated by Aleck Marime to go for the breather in the driving seat.

Eight minutes after the breather second-half substitute Dube equalised for the visitors when he slotted in a Nqobile Mpala pass.
