According to court papers, the hired hitman got a beast as payment for the murder.

Veneka Chimonga (64) and her three daughters, Portia (34) Sheila, (32) and Precious (30) were not formally charged with murder when they briefly appeared before Gokwe resident magistrate Shepherd Mjanja.

They were remanded in custody to Thursday.

Charges against the four are that on October 9 they connived and hatched a plan to kill their aunt Ruramisai Zifungo over witchcraft allegations.

They allegedly hired Alois Nduna to make the hit and promised him a beast as payment.

The State said Nduna was given $8 as bus fare to travel to Madziwazvido area under Chief Chireya where their aunt stayed. It is further alleged that Nduna found the women’s aunt home alone on arrival at around 11pm.

Nduna then stabbed her to death and left the body in the bedroom hut.

After the alleged murder, Nduna is said to have returned to the Chimonga family and told them the mission had been accomplished.

On October 11, the four women are said to have gone to Benholim Farm in Kwekwe where they gave Nduna a beast as payment for the “job”.

However, when news of the brutal murder of the women’s aunt filtered in, police received a tip-off and arrested Chimonga and her daughters for their involvement in the murder.

Nduna is still at large.
