CHICKEN Inn defender Guide Goddard will undergo an operation in Bulawayo tomorrow on his left knee following the injury he sustained during a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against city neighbours How Mine at Luveve Stadium in August.

“I got injured on my left knee when we played How Mine in a league match. I could not play thereafter and I was told that I was supposed to undergo an operation before I could play again,” he said.

The injury sidelined the defender for 10 games.

Goddard, who is the Chicken Inn vice-captain, said he was hoping to have fully recovered in time for the 2014 season.

“I want to make sure that I get ready for the season. I want to help Chicken Inn win another cup because we won the NetOne Charity Shield earlier this year and we can still win other trophies next year. I just need to work very hard because I also want to grace the 2015 calendar,” he said.

Chicken Inn lifted the NetOne Charity Shield in March when they beat Caps United 3-2 in the final although they failed to finish in the top four in the Premier League.

The Innscor-sponsored team finished on position six on the log table down from their 2011 third position.

Goddard also said he was happy that Chicken Inn have been fully behind him despite his injury.

“Chicken Inn has been very helpful since I got injured. They are taking care of my medical bills and I have also received my salary as well. They have not done what other clubs do when a player is injured,” he said.
