Mahachi has been linked to league champions Dynamos and runners-up Highlanders, but his manager Mlungisi Moyo yesterday said Chicken Inn are the only club that have indicated an interest in extending their loan deal with the player.

Moyo said as far as he was concerned, doors have not been closed on Mahachi on the Mamelodi Sundowns deal because the South African side have not made any official communication on the skilful attacking midfielder as they had done when they invited him for trials.

“In the event that he fails to go to South Africa, he might still remain at Chicken Inn. It is too early to say now because we have not received any official communication from Sundowns. There was never any formal communication. That deal could still be on. We will communicate with them soon after the holidays and then we will know if he they want him or not. We are still waiting for Sundowns to communicate with us and I know they are going to do so. They are a professional side.

“They requested for him via e-mail for trials and in the same vein they will communicate to us their position regarding the player,” Moyo said.

He said he has been in contact with Bantu Rovers, who have a running contract with the player that ends in December next year and Tshintsha Guluva have indicated that no local club have approached them on the player.

“I have spoken to the Bantu Rovers secretary (Wilbert Sibanda) and he says no club has approached them on the player. The only club that has made a formal request and is still interested in the player is Chicken Inn and in the event that the South Africa deal flops he might return to Chicken Inn,” Moyo said.

A few weeks ago, Sibanda also said that Mahachi remains their player and has only a loan contract with Chicken Inn which expires tomorrow.

Mahachi has been quoted in various publications saying if he does not make it to South Africa, he will join either Highlanders or Dynamos.

Zifa Southern Region Division One side Bantu Rovers are also home to midfielder Nqobizitha Masuku who recently caught the eye of Warriors head coach Ian “Dibango” Gorowa and has been to South Africa on trials.

Masuku is another player who could be joining the Premier Soccer League next season.
