Mapfumo won the individual stableford competition after getting a net of 37 points.

The tournament was sponsored by Wilfred Chinembiri.

Competition convener Kwangwari Kwangwari was second on 36 points while Crispen Magosvongwe was third on 34 points.

Kwangwari yesterday told Southern Eye Sport that their inaugural competition of the year went on well.

“It was a good tournament, but it was very challenging. A number of the golfers played badly because it has been raining and the course is wet. We are now looking forward to our next competition which we are having on Saturday (tomorrow),” he said.

It was a good day on the greens for Kwangwari as he won the nearest to the pin on holes number seven and 17.

Magosvongwe won another prize after he won the nearest to the pin on hole number four.

Moses Mlalazi won the longest drive in the men’s section while Acey Zerf won the longest drive in the women’s although she had the most golf on 11 points.

Moses Mlalazi, Magosvongwe and Chinemberi got two clubs.

Other golfers who featured in the competition are Cleopas Dube, Alfred Dube, Canaan Maphosa, Sebastian Khoza, football legend Ebson Sugar Muguyo and Martin Mabvira.
