THE Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (Zimche) has lifted its suspension on the Bachelor of Science Counselling degree programme offered by the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU).

The programme was banned in December 2011 when the council embarked on an exercise to monitor degree offering institutions as well as all degree programmes.
In a statement yesterday, Zimche said ZOU had met all requirements to resume offering the degree programme.
“The Zimche wishes to inform members of the public that the suspension on the teaching of the ZOU Bachelor of Science Counselling degree by Zimche has now been lifted.
“The suspension was lifted on June 6 2013 after the university met the criteria of enhancing the content of the degree programme,” the statement read.
The move by Zimche to suspend the programme had left a lot of people worried with speculation quickly swirling that ZOU degrees were questionable.
