FORMER Zanu PF Matabeleland South provincial chairperson Rido Mpofu’s Sunrise Trading (Pvt) Ltd is in trouble after the Messenger of Court attached another of his vehicles for the second time in less than a month over an undisclosed debt he owes Viking Hardware Distributors of Bulawayo.
A notice by the Messenger of Court that was flighted in the Press yesterday indicated that unless the case was withdrawn, Mpofu’s Nissan Rasheen vehicle, registration number ACA 7716, would go under the hammer at a public auction at Siyaphambili Co-operative this morning.
Viking Hardware Distributors specialises in the supply of small-scale mining equipment and has taken Mpofu and two others to court to recover its money.
It is believed that Mpofu, who was at one time involved in mining, purchased the equipment on credit.
Last month, a registered microfinance company that specialises in lending money, Inclusive Financial Services (Pvt) Ltd, took the Zanu PF central committee member and former Gwanda mayor and two others to court to recover an undisclosed amount it is owed.
Mpofu’s Volvo car, registration number ABK 8236 and a pizza-making machine were attached by the Messenger of Court last month.
The Volvo is still parked at the auctioneers’ premises after it reportedly failed to attract buyers last month.
Mpofu’s Sunrise Trading runs Ekhaya Garden Restaurant and Takeaways, but his catering business is reportedly crumbling with workers having gone for months without pay.
