Moyo (62) died after a short illness last Sunday and was given a grand send-off by his fellow transport operators and some city businessmen.

Moyo’s funeral cortége blocked traffic in some sections of the city centre as dozens of vehicles snaked through the morning traffic on their way to the cemetery.

The officer commanding Bulawayo West police Chief Superintendent Mbeko Kunene said Moyo always thought of development and wanted to see people of Bulawayo and Matabeleland united and working together for the betterment of their lives.

“He was a good man who wanted to see the people of Bulawayo and other provinces working together and uniting for a common cause,” he said.

“He worked with everyone and he never chose or discriminated against people.”

Moyo also played a pivotal role in educating the underprivileged children along routes his buses plied.

He went to Mkombo Primary School near Khami and Mzilikazi High School in Bulawayo for his secondary education.

He ventured into motor mechanics before establishing his own bus company known as Dokotela Omnibus.

He is survived by nine children and 10 grandchildren.
