THE National Athletics of Zimbabwe (Naaz) Inter-Provincial Cross Country Championships that were set for Harare on February 8 have been moved to Kadoma.
SUKOLUHLE MTHETHWA SPORTS REPORTER
Naaz had initially said the competition would be held in Kwekwe before it was moved to Harare and now Kadoma.
Naaz vice-president Enias Nhoro explained why they had moved the competition again.
“We had planned to hold the competition in Harare, but we have had to move it because we found sponsors who offered to cater for all the expenses in Kadoma.
“This was after they saw the provincial selection which was done by Mashonaland West Athletics Board last week. I do not have finer details on the whole deal at the moment though,” he said, without revealing the sponsors.
The competition will be used to select athletes who will represent the country in the regional cross country in Botswana on February 22.
Twenty junior and senior athletes to fight for top-spot against other countries are expected to be selected during the competition.

Most provinces have been holding provincial competitions to select athletes who will represent them in Harare. Nhoro urged athletes who want to travel to Botswana to come and take part in Kadoma as this is the only chance they will get to be selected.
In Kadoma, the athletes will take part in the 6km race for junior women, 8km for senior women and junior men while the 12km race is for senior men.
He said they are hoping that they will get secure funds to send a full team to Botswana.
