Mahachi, who has also been targeted by French Ligue 1 club Monaco, agreed to a five-year deal with the Brazilians to start in June and the media has been awash with reports that the left-footed speedy midfielder would be loaned to Highlanders by Sundowns.

However, Highlanders chairman Peter Dube said there was no deal yet with Sundowns on the nimble-footed player who was due to arrive in the country last night from South Africa.

“There is nothing tangible yet on Mahachi,” Dube said.

Mahachi – who with two other Warriors players, skipper Partson Jaure and Peter “Rio” Moyo, have been included in the 2014 Chan best players – is also on the league champions and Caf Champions representatives Dynamos’ wish list.

He belongs to Zifa Southern region Division One club Bantu Rovers and has been on loan to Chicken Inn since 2012.

He is a product of the Highlanders juniors and had two Facebook accounts with one going by the name Kudakwashe Mahachi and says Player at Chicken Inn January 2012 to present, and another which goes by the name Kuda Neymar Mahachi “Works at Highlanders FC”.

The clear picture of Mahachi’s next port of call will only come after his arrival in the country from South Africa.

The Highlanders chairman also said there was nothing on former defender Zephania Ngodzo, who crossed the floor to FC Platinum in 2011 and returned to Bulawayo last year to join Chicken Inn.

Ngodzo has been training with Highlanders with sources saying the Bulawayo giants, searching for a right-back, are likely to rope him in.

Highlanders are also targeting Hwange’s Erick Chipeta and Chicken Inn captain Felix Chindungwe, who is reportedly going back to the GameCox after agreeing to a two-year deal before going to South Africa.

Bosso will this week step up preparations for the Cephas Msipa Scholarship Trust charity football tournament where they take on Castle Lager Premier Soccer League returnees Chapungu in the semi-final at Ascot Stadium on Saturday.

The other semi-final pits FC Platinum and Shabanie Mine at Mandava before the final that will be played on Sunday.

Highlanders head coach Kelvin Kaindu, who has said he was downsizing his squad, still had 40 players for a practice session held on Saturday at Luveve Stadium with Munyaradzi Diya, Rio and Milton Ncube expected to join later this week.

Bosso has already sealed deals with Joel “Josta” Ngodzo, Valentine Ndaba, Khumbulani Banda, Welcome Ndiweni and goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni while retaining most of their senior players who include goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda, Bruce Kangwa, Dumisani “Fazo” Ndlovu, Erick Mudzingwa, Innocent Mapuranga and Mthulisi Maphosa.

Cleopas “Balotelli” Dube makes a return from Plumtree Chiefs to join Gabriel Nyoni upfront while Douglas Sibanda, grabbed from Gwanda Ramblers, has also been retained together with Hillary Madzivanyika who joined Bosso last year from Botswana.
