Phiri has been targeted by Highlanders together with another Warriors defender and Chicken Inn skipper Felix Chindungwe.

Chicken Inn secretary Tavengwa Hara yesterday said Phiri is staying at Chicken Inn and any team that wants him should approach them and be prepared to put a good offer as the player is also wanted by some clubs in South Africa.

Head coach Joey Antipas is keen on keeping Phiri, whom the former Motor Action gaffer believes could captain Chicken Inn with veteran Mkhokheli Dube.

“Deco is still our player and he has got a contract that runs until the end of the year.

“But we cannot stand in his way if any club wants him and they have good offers and he wants to go,” Hara said.

Phiri yesterday also said he is not going anywhere.

“I am still a Chicken Inn player. I am not going anywhere,” he said.

Chicken Inn recently signed former South African side AmaZulu midfielder Ramson Zhuwawo who was offloaded by Usuthu last year. Zhuwawo joins Dube, whom he briefly played with at AmaZulu in 2012.

The GameCox have already added Passmore Bernard, Morgan Mungombe and Ishmael Lawe to their squad for the 2014 season. Defender Zephaniah Ngodzo has been training with Highlanders, but no deal has been reached yet while former goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni has packed his bags to join Bosso, where he got a two-year deal.

Another former Chicken Inn player who has been linked to Highlanders is Warriors sensation Kudakwashe Mahachi who was on loan from Division One side Bantu Rovers and has also been linked to South African side Mamelodi Sundowns and Monaco of France.

Mahachi has said he has not signed a deal with any club and remains on the books of Rovers.
