His manager Chris Malunga from Zambia’s Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions said they were aiming higher than next month’s fight.

“Manyuchi is in camp with the other boxers. This is a very important fight for him because if he wins it he will be taking steps to challenging for a fight against Floyd Mayweather. We are also grateful because we received $50 000 from Zamtel, a parastatal in Zambia on Wednesday. They gave us $50 000, but our budget for the whole tournament is $150 000.

“Receiving the sponsorship is very encouraging to us because it shows that the companies have confidence on what we are doing. The other fights that will be there on the day are very important as well.

“We have Catherine Phiri who will fight Pia Mazelanik from Germany and this is going to be one very big fight on the day because if she wins she will contend for the WBC main title fight,” he said.

Zimbabwe’s female boxer Monalisa Sibanda and Takudzwa Kuchocha will also feature in non-title fights on the day.

Manyuchi is also managed by Edison Zvobgo Junior in Zimbabwe while contracted to Zambia-based Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions.

Malunga said the boxers will not take part in any preparatory bouts ahead of the big fights.
