Speaking ahead of their departure for Nigeria yesterday via Johannesburg, South Africa, club chairman Mlondolozi Nkomo said the players have to be psychologically prepared for the match.

“The biggest and most important thing is that the players have to be mentally prepared for the fight. If they win it in their minds the battle is half done and the rest will fall into place. I can say so far though we are ready for war,” he said.

Nkomo said they were not anticipating any special treatment in Nigeria, but that would not distract them from their mandate.

“We are sure they will not treat us kindly there, but we want to make sure that no one is distracted. Our aim is to qualify for the next round and we do not want anything to shift our focus from that,” he said.

How Mine failed to get a healthy lead in their first leg encounter at Barbourfields which ended 2-1.

They have to score goals if they are to proceed to the group stages.

“This is probably the toughest match that we are going to play and the most important for us as a club. We want to believe in the impossible,” he said.

Nkomo said they did not want to put themselves under pressure like they did in the first match.

“The first match was a high stakes match and we put ourselves under a lot of pressure. That team has reached the semi-finals of the tournament before. We want to attempt the impossible. “We do not want to put ourselves under pressure this time around. The boys lacked confidence when they started playing in the last match, but their confidence was boosted when the match proceeded,” he said.
