WISHES Nyoni emerged the overall winner of the 2013 to 2014 Mbada Golf Society tournaments after coming on top of the final Order of Merit in the competition that ended at Harry Allen Golf Club on Sunday.

The 2013 to 2014 edition saw the golfers featuring in 15 games.

Nyoni accumulated 87,5 points getting the green jacket and a trophy from Joseph Mushaka who was the defending champion. Mushaka won the 2012 to 2013 title in March last year after he finished the competition with 59,5 points.

However, Mushaka is the runner-up despite collecting 58 points in the contest, Crispen Magosvongwe was third with 55,5 points.

It was a good day for Magosvongwe as he won the Champion of Champions trophy.

He won the award after coming out with the best net on the last day of the competition at Harry Allen Golf Club on Sunday, pitting the tournament’s top 10 players.

Jebus Karuru was fourth with 51 points, football legend Ebson “Sugar” Muguyo collected 45 points to come fifth while Tawo Paguwa was sixth from 42,5 points.

On seventh place was the competition captain Kwangwari Kwangwari (39,5 points), Brian Sanangurai got 37 points to emerge on eighth.

Wilfred Chinembiri accumulated 32,55 points with Clemence Sibanda getting 31,5 points to occupy positions nine and 10 respectively.

Kwangwari was happy with the progress of the competition which started in May last year.

“The competition has been very good. We are overally happy with how the tournament progressed from last year until now. There has also been an improvement in the type of play from when the tournament started. We are improving each year,” he said.

The games were played at Harry Allen, Bulawayo Country Club, Bulawayo Golf Club, Hillside Golf Club while the golfers had a feel of a different environment when they travelled to Tantebane Golf Course in Botswana in December last year.
