Joshua Chamboko of Windsor Park allegedly went around with brass and a gold scale misrepresenting to people that it (brass) was gold.

However, his luck ran out when detectives from the minerals squad were tipped off and apprehended him.

Chamboko appeared before Gweru magistrate Tendai Madanhire yesterday and was remanded to April 8 for trial.

Prosecutor Chipo Matshe told the court that on March 28 this year at around 11am, police received information that Chamboko was moving around Mkoba suburb claiming to be selling gold.

Detectives went to Mkoba 14 shopping centre where they met an informant who identified Chamboko for them.

When Chamboko spotted the cops, he took to his heels leaving a gold scale and five grammes of brass.

Police gave chase and apprehended him.
