Chiredzi FC who came into the match as underdogs, defied all odds after producing a stunning performance against their more illustrious opponents. Munyaradzi Chiwara scored the fasted goal so far this season after only 30 seconds into the match as Chiredzi FC raced into the lead.

Chiwara benefited from a Tapiwa Dephistara cross. Kamusoko scored in three minutes into injury time after heading home Raphael Muduviwa’s corner-kick. Chiredzi FC goalie Simon Kafitire was red carded in the 38th minute following an off-the-ball altercation with FC Platinum player Marshall Mudewe.

Moses Chunga’s side dominated the first half with Dephistara detecting proceedings. FC Platinum’s first real chance came in the 25th minute with Walter Musona failing to deliver on a face-to-face situation with Kafitira who safely collected the ball.

In the 70th minute, Dephistara who had a good game, toasted Quadr Amini on the right flank before sending a weak cross to substitute Sam Musimbo who headed wide.

Seven minutes later, Musimbo left his markers for dead, but he again failed to beat FC Platinum goalkeeper Talbert Shumba. Chunga is confident they will pick themselves up in the Chiredzi derby against Triangle which is their next assignment.

“It happens in football and we are now planning for our next match against Triangle next week. We are confident we will do well this year,” Chunga said. His opposite number Lloyd Mutasa said they gave too much respect to their opponents.

“I think we started badly. It was not good to concede in 30 seconds. It is two points we lost, but this always happen in the first games of the league,” he said.
