Last season Delta through their Lion Lager brand, sponsored the NRL and this season, chairman Noddy Kanyangarara said they were yet to finalise the deal.

“We are working on something at the moment though I cannot give much detail because it is too early to say. What I can tell you is that we were told that the league will be re-branded — to which brand we do not know,” he said.

Delta though said they will sponsor the league and would probably use one of their lesser-known brands this season as a way of marketing it. In football, they have brought back the Chibuku Super Cup.

The NRL season is expected to kick off on April 26 with fixtures which will run up to first week of October having been released by the league.

Kanyangarara said the delay in the announcement of the sponsorship would not affect the league kick off.
