The culture week this year runs from May 17-24 under the theme “Promoting Cultural Diversity and Inclusion” and will be officially launched in Bulawayo at the Amphitheatre on May 17.

NACZ communications manager Catherine Mthombeni said the week-long commemorations will be punctuated by diverse activities that depict various aspects of hunhu/ubuntu.

“This year’s programme seeks to uphold ubuntu/hunhu. The idea is to instil a sense of pride among Zimbabweans as they will appreciate their cultures in their respective provinces,” she said.

The launch will mark the beginning of the celebration of importance of cultural diversity throughout the country using various cultural and artistic expressions.

Some of the activities to mark the culture week will include marches through the streets by artists and cultural activists, fashion shows, music and dance performances, art and craft exhibitions and herbal medicine exhibitions.

This year’s theme is in line with key cultural foundations of the new Constitution as well as the government’s economic blueprint, ZimAsset.
