BBM winner owes maintenance

Winner of Big Brother Mzansi Secrets and self-confessed papgeld (mantainance) defaulter, Mandla Hlatshwayo made no secret how he was going to use his prize money — to settle his outstanding maintenance bill.

JOHANNESBURG – Winner of Big Brother Mzansi Secrets and self-confessed papgeld (mantainance) defaulter, Mandla Hlatshwayo made no secret how he was going to use his prize money — to settle his outstanding maintenance bill.

“I am going to quickly settle my outstanding papgeld payments as I am a few months behind,” he said in an interview.

Earlier, when quipped about the prize money, the 24-year-old spaza shop owner jokingly said: “Once you take out R100 from that amount, it won’t be a million anymore. So I am now motivated to work harder so I can be worthy of the title of millionaire.”

Hlatshwayo, who has a relationship and a baby outside with the former now in question, recently set tongues wagging when he and fellow housemate Lexi had sex on national television during the popular “shower hour”.

Expressing no regrets for any of the hanky panky he got up to in the house, the outspoken Sebokeng lad said he’s happy that he managed to start something with Lexi that he will “focus his attention on”.

He said the only person he had an affinity to when he entered the house was fellow contestants Sol “because I listened to him a lot on radio and so I took an immediate liking to him”. As for the many relationships the 24-year-old formed in the house, he said he often wondered if the associations were genuine.

“I’ve made so many associations in the house which I would like to keep — even though at times though if whether the hugs or the laughs that I had were genuine. But I guess that’s the premise of the competition.”

As a millionaire, his intention is now on making sure he invests the large chunk of the money on a viable “community” business. “I really want to start a business in my area — not just for myself, but so that people in my community could be afforded opportunities too.”
