Ncube, a former Miss Zimbabwe Tourism 2005 contestant and Miss Bulawayo, launched the comic series titled ZimboStarz online on Friday last week under her company Maverick Media.

“The ZimboStarz comic series is revolutionary branded content media tool and a first of its kind in Zimbabwe that blurs the lines between entertainment and advertising.

“Not only is the storyline riveting, dynamic, fun and engaging, the comic series effectively acts as an interface between Zimbabwean brands and the market by demonstrating the synergy, interdependence and relationship between the brand and consumer in an authentic in exhaustive message that appeals to all age groups,” she added.

The issue launched last week online is the first of eight series that would make up the first season. ZimboStarz follows the life of Tino, a 21-year-old Zimbabwean who lives in Harare.

Tino is quite an ambitious hustler, like many young Zimbabweans.

He is a telephonist, but during his spare time writes and records music for his album Tapinda Tapinda under the record label Starz Records run by the notorious Mr Zinx.

Tino’s love interest is Langa a gorgeous 19-year old university student. Tino’s arch rival is Chamunorwa nick named “ChamzAstro” another recording artiste in the same stable.

Sam is Tino’s best friend. He is the charismatic and recently signed as a striker for Titans Football Team (TFT).

The story simultaneously follows the dramatic lives of Tino and Sam, as they strive for success often facing many challenges and tackling them head on.

In this fascinating comic book, Ncube collaborated with Walt Barna, a co-founder of Maverick Media, who is a seasoned artist who has designed book covers for international books and comics.

His most recent work is the cover for the Crocodile Dancer, Journeymen and Velocity Anthology.
