The event will run in all ten provinces of Zimbabwe, but the main official opening will be in Bulawayo to preceded a street march on Saturday morning from Egodini bus terminus to the Bulawayo Amphitheatre.

Catherine Mthombeni the communications manager for National Arts Council of Zimbabwe called people of Bulawayo to come together and be part of the event, adding that the country would be celebrating diverse cultures.

“As the arts council, we have covered too much ground in terms of preparing for this event. We are looking forward to have a good event. It will be entertainment galore,” she said.

Mpumelelo Shining Stars would be the main act of the day backed by the national winners of Jikinya dance competition, Nyandoro Primary School while Nengoma Arts and King Gorge are expected to add icing on the cake.

“We have called in different dance groups to provide entertainment on the day to cater for all age groups. We have brought in artistes who perform different types of genrés. I believe it will be entertainment galore on the day,” Mthombeni added.

The event would be punctuated by diverse activities that depict varied ubuntu/unhu as well as to cultivate in people a sense of belonging hence instilling pride.

This year’s Culture Week theme is “Promoting Cultural Diversity and Inclusion”.

It is in line with key cultural foundations of the new Constitution as well as the Zanu PF economic blue print ZimAsset.
