Nkomo said barring MDC-T legislators from associating with them showed that the party was full of politicians with small minds who were politically immature and bankrupt. However, Bhebhe dismissed the accusations as a fallacy adding that Sipepa Nkomo and his renewal team were liars and behaved as mercenaries.

Sipepa Nkomo first made the accusations on Thursday evening at a political parties debate meeting held at the Bulawayo Club and repeated them in an interview yesterday.

A report in our sister paper NewsDay on Friday said the MDC-T warring factions avoided each other during the bestowing of former Harare mayor Muchadeyi Masunda with the Federal Cross of Merit.

“They have been told not to mingle, greet or even talk to us and this can only be done by people who have small minds. They have been intimidated against associating with us,” Sipepa Nkomo said.

“The MDC-T legislators and members are not free and are not enjoying freedoms of association. It only goes to show the level of political immaturity in the MDC-T. It shows they are bankrupt politically and immature on a personal basis.” He added that the MDC-T had resorted to such tactics because it had no ideas on how to deal with the renewal team.

In response, Bhebhe said Sipepa Nkomo was not only lying, but exhibiting traits of a mercenary adding that the MDC-T renewal team wanted to remain relevant by using conspiracy theories.

“That is not only a lie, but this is a mercenary attitude to expect people to believe such wild allegations. It’s a sign of desperation,” he said.

They thought they had a following and quite a number of MPs would join them, but reality is now sinking and they are forced to resort to lying and conspiracy theories. They should wake up from their deep slumber.”
